The ResidenceArriving at The Residence Zanzibar is pure bliss. The first hit of natural light from the open, airy reception is an instant mood lift. With high ceilings, cushioned benches and wooden oak pieces inspired by traditional Zanzibari design, the space feels intimate yet chic. Seamlessly connected to the green surroundings, the lobby spills into a tropical haven, where palm trees, a perfectly groomed garden and two large inviting hammocks invite guests to unwind. Beyond it, stairs ascend to the infinity pool, with the private beach and Indian Ocean stretching into the horizon, a constant reminder: you’re deep in the heart of African beauty, wrapped in five-star luxury.
The ResidenceGreeted with a cool flannel and a welcome cocktail, guests are quickly whisked off by their private butler in a buggy that’s more VIP than golf cart. There are 66 villas in total, and whether guests have chosen oceanfront, garden, or presidential it’s more like cruising through your own fancy neighbourhood than a resort. Spotted along the way are playful monkeys swinging through the trees, elephant shrews darting across the paths and vibrant birds putting on a show as the buggy cruises through the abundant greenery.
The ResidenceEach guest is allocated a bright red bicycle to roam the sizeable resort.  The villas are spacious, luxurious, and super stylish. There’s earthy tones everywhere, a wooden four-poster bed takes centre stage in the bedroom, and a cushioned wicker chair is positioned in the lounge area – perfect for unwinding in front of the 40-inch flat screen TV. Add in air con, complimentary Wi-Fi, a minibar stocked daily for your convenience, a Nespresso machine on request, ample wardrobe space and a dressing table, it’s pretty much the dream setup.
The ResidenceThe bathroom is indulgent, with a freestanding tub, his-and-hers sinks, both indoor and outdoor showers, plus all the plush robes, slippers, and bath goodies. On top of that, daily housekeeping and 24-hour in-villa dining is offered. Slide open those French doors, and there’s a private pool, dark blue tiles shimmering, surrounded by daybeds and loungers. It’s luxury living, but the wild side of Zanzibar is always right there, keeping you grounded in nature.
