The dream of driving through Europe in style with the wind through your hair and the sun on your face is one that we all crave. First established in 1927, the Mille Miglia is a historic rally which started as a point to point race across the Italian countryside. The annual event is held in the beautiful, blossoming month of May, running down the East coast of Italy from Brescia to Rome and back. The race comprises 400 qualifying cars and covers over 1000 miles of countryside. The Mille Miglia route stops at a multitude of charming towns and cities on the way; including Ferrera, Cervia Milano Marittima, Siena, Bologna, the list goes on.

The historic rally was first initiated as an open road race between the finest cars of the decade. The event has since evolved as modern-day roads and regulations have, but this has not been to the detriment of the Mille Miglia, rather, to its advantage. Cultivating a perfect marriage between tradition and innovation, today, the rally is exclusively hosted to cars which would have been able to compete in the original race.

The modern-day reincarnation of the original race week is a result of the race proving to be somewhat dangerous when done at speed. After the cancellation of the Mille Miglia in 1957, the race was not reinstated in its new form until 1977 which formed the basis for the race which is enjoyed today.

Rather than being a race for the first across the line as it was in the 1920s to the 1950s, the rally is now orchestrated as a showcase of classic cars across the finest roads in Italy.

Due to the historic nature of the event, it offers a rare form of elegance and nostalgia to the world of motorsport- quite unlike modern-day track racing.  The cars and the race itself are the main attraction to this occasion, however, these are not the only aspects of the four-day event which guests from all over the world gather for.
