The year is 1932, the age is golden, and the bar is secret. After knocking on the on the nondescript door of the King’s Head’s speakeasy, modern day London is left behind- traded in for a world of burlesque dancing, snake charming and fire-eating at the Gin House Burlesque Revue. Locked away in the safety of the King’s Head, revelers are offered vintage glamour, debauchery and a whole lotta gin.

For almost a decade, King’s Head Member’s Club in Shoreditch has been home to the world-renowned Gin House Burlesque, a female-produced show of dancing and surprises inspired by the hedonism of the prohibition period. The production embraces a full-on approach to vintage merriment, with swing bands and magicians amongst the extraordinary line up. With the event happening over four floors, there’s vintage entertainment and immersive delights at every turn. Guests are encouraged to embrace the Prohibition era and dress for a shindig circa 1930.

The great minds behind Gin House are Miss Betsy Rose, Jolie Papillon and Missy Fatale, in other words, the Holy Trinity of cabaret. With a wealth of Burlesque repertoire under their belts, the three artistes set out on a mission: to revive the glitz and glamour of cabaret in the Big Smoke.

Miss Betsy Rose: The Star of Burlesque

Three time Number 1 Figure in Burlesque in the UK is Miss Betsy Rose- a character that needs no introduction. After a glorious career in Burlesque, Betsy Rose joined forces with Jolie Papillon and Missy Fatale for the birth of Gin House. The Gin House Revue is a great opportunity to see Miss Betsy Rose in action. Betsy Rose’s performances have been described as ‘dazzling’. She’s even been known to hop up on the bar for a grand finale to her energetic numbers. Her entire repertoire is special, but if you’re lucky enough to catch  ‘Lady Sublime’, know you’re getting her signature number. Highly elegant, unapologetically vintage and heart-stopping, Miss Betsy Rose is nothing less than an icon.

Gin House Burlesque welcomes to the stage… Jaqueline Furey

Fan dancer, fire eater, sword swallower- Jaqueline Furey’s list of talents goes on. The Australian beauty will be incorporating all the above in her Gin House debut; it’s no secret that her one-woman show is nothing short of jaw dropping. After headlining Reuban Kaye’s infamous cabaret The Kaye Hole, Jaqueline Furey has been described as ‘bewitching’, and it’s no surprise she’s making her way over to Gin House to feature in their May Revue.

King’s Head Member’s Club: Welcome to the club

Boasting four antique-filled floors, The Kings Head Member’s Club hides behind a long forgotten public house, making this eccentric venue one of East London’s best-kept-secrets. The nature of the club makes The King’s Head more than just exclusive, it’s strictly off-limits to non-members… unless, of course, you’re in possession of a ticket to Gin House Burlesque. The building showcases numerous private rooms, each one enclosing more vaudeville secrets and mystery than the last, making The King’s Head Member’s Club the perfect home for Gin House’s clandestine debauchery.

"

"‘Prepare for a night of vintage glamour, debauchery and, of course, a whole lot of gin.’"

A gin-soaked affair

If the jaw-dropping entertainment wasn’t enough, Gin House Burlesque is worth a visit for the cocktails alone. With a name like Gin House, you won’t be surprised to hear that gin is on the menu… ten-fold. The ‘French’ is refreshing and elegant, the perfect mix of sweet and dry. It’s the cognac-based Sazerac, however, that really steals the show; sharp and refreshing, the New Orleans classic is the perfect fit for this covert establishment.

Gin House Burlesque epitomizes everything that made The Golden Age so golden. With cocktails flowing and entertainment to behold, this a must-see show for anyone who’s ever wanted to go back in time.
