The delicately snow-topped mountains and rolling emerald hills of Telluride in Colorado beg the question: can the inside of my home look and feel this magnificent? From bespoke wooden cabins and ground-breaking interior aesthetics to lavish local cuisine and brilliant art tours, the Telluride Art and Architecture weekend is the ultimate exploration of the best architecture, home design and gourmet cuisine in the region.

Behind all art, there lies a story. The Telluride Art and Architecture weekend strives to lay bare the stories behind the mountain town’s extensive yet concealed arts culture. A week-long stint of small events and showcases each year in July culminates with a weekend tour of the Telluride style. The celebration spans two days and features some of Telluride’s most masterful chefs, architects, interior designers and fine artists.

Of course, we know Telluride for its world-class skiing and winter sports community, but it also boasts a flourishing creative culture. Telluride Arts is a grassroots arts advocacy organisation, established in 1971 and focused on uncovering and supporting the thriving culture of the region. With this, the Telluride Art and Architecture weekend was born. Telluride Arts’ motivation behind the festival was to introduce emerging artists to potential patrons. Locals and far-flung guests are able to experience the greatest art and home design in Telluride and Mountain Village.

On one of the three days of stunning showcases, the festival’s visitors are able to follow an exciting trail of open houses. Wandering around town, guests will recognise a string of different venues. Indicators of these venues’ participation in the weekend celebration include musical couplets in their entrances, pleased patrons perusing sophisticated pop-up studios with a glass of wine in hand and distinctive displays of unique local artists and architects. Along the path, wayfarers will find boutiques, exhibitions, fashion shows and architectural studios where artists are on hand to interact with. From whimsical blouses and bespoke baby clothing, to quirky window designs and cathartic paintings, there is something for everyone to marvel at along this treasure hunt of ingenuity.

The Telluride Art and Architecture weekend continues into Saturday with a tour of the town’s top culinary talent. Popular local restaurants including French bistro La Marmotte and the New Sheridan hotel’s sophisticated steak house Chop House host artists and musicians of the festival and offer delicious samplers and apéritifs to their visitors. Patrons can expect to find tables cleared out of these eateries to make room for surreal sculptures, dreamy ceramics and awestriking paintings. Glasses filled and stomachs satisfied, the Telluride Art and Architecture weekend’s discerning guests continue to peruse the town’s artistry while discovering its finest cuisine.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday with a self-guided tour of some private homes and gardens across the region that feature more local architectural and design talent. The tour comprises of five pit stops throughout historic Telluride and Mountain Village, showcasing both historic and contemporary homes. This peek inside the five stunning homes on display offers attendees an early insight into emerging interior and landscaping trends and a thorough exploration of the mountain town aesthetic. Rustic exposed stone walls, abstract wooden beams and huge window frames make for the perfect setting to bid farewell to a weekend of excellent art and home design.

To unwrap the stories and meet the talented forces behind Telluride’s abundant arts culture, guests simply have to follow these carefully curated trails and tours. The Telluride Art and Architecture weekend transforms regular settings of homes and eateries into collaborative spaces where creative conversation is sparked, and new relationships come alive over excellent cuisine and art. The event will be held this year between 11th July and 17th July and will feature a new host of brilliant feasts for the senses.
