Miami. It is the city that the world knows as the place for sunny days and hot nights. Miami Beach has been where the A-list goes to party until the sun comes up at some of the top clubs in the world. It’s where the mix of Latin and international culture create an energy unlike any other in the world. But Miami is so much more than that. It has now become a cultural mecca with a world-class art scene, the fashion industry hub, and possesses a plethora of culinary offerings and home to some of the top restaurants in the world. All of that and needless to say miles and miles of idyllic beaches to work on that winter tan when others are freezing in the snow ridden north.

Scotty Mesz is The Man in Miami and is the go-to guy for Miami’s elite and A list who come to town. He’s connected and arranges access to exclusive events, the swankiest villas and hot hotels, and those pesky velvet roped night clubs with the snootiest doorman. He’s the concierge with the golden key to the city and here’s his take on what to do and where to go for three action-packed days in America’s Riviera.

For the jet setter, Miami is the place to come for a fun weekend any time of the year. Miami is at its peak when it’s freezing in the north and snowbird flock to retreat from winter’s grip. Any time of the year is fantastic here but November through March is when Miami is its most electric with seemingly a major international event almost every week. Fashion Weeks, Art Basel Miami, Ultra Music Fest just to name a few.

Where you stay matters, so you’ll want to stay in either a hot hotel near the action or if you want to live large, a villa is a great option as well. I often recommend the all-new Miami Beach EDITION  hotel that oozes a chill and relaxed sexy vibe. The décor is creamy white with wood finishes, pops of gold, and fresh greenery in live plants throughout the interiors. The accommodations are sultry and chic as one would expect in Miami beach with cool white and natural wood finishes and all the latest electronics and amenities.

Miami also boasts a serious cocktail culture far beyond Cuba Libre’s and mojitos. The night out on the town begins with an on-point cocktail or two from the hotel’s master mixologist Angelo Vieira at the hotel’s Matador Bar. Angelo may ask what you would like to order before he tells you to lighten up. Stunned? He goes no silly I mean the cocktail “Lighten Up” (Belvedere Vodka, Moet & Chandon Brut Champagne, Cassis Liqueur, Lime). Oooh you, you’re good, as we exchange laughs like we’ve known each other for decades.

As you’re now more “lightened up”, this mix master asks can he recommend a dessert?. He’ll then most probably suggest a Miami favorite and institution, the Tres Leches cake. So with that, you are officially immersed in your Miami getaway weekend.  Sweet!

Friday

Edition Hotel Miami Bowling Alley

Check out the hottest new spot and fortunately right in the Edition Hotel Miami’s basement. This isn’t some hole in the wall dive spot. It’s just as cool and happening as the rest of the hotel and one of their spot-on experiences that they offer to fully enjoy Miami. No only do you get one of Miami’s best beaches, you get a sexy pool scene, great foodie experiences, and even a hot club and entertainment hub an elevator ride away.

The club, named the “Basement” is actually a multi-functional hospitality and nightlife spot ramming with sounds and visuals with a bowling alley, night club, and ice skating rink. Yes, a skating rink. So go ahead and lace up those skates and get romantic with the one you love.

From the rink, bounce over to the jam-packed nightclub side of Basement where they have guest red hot DJ Anthony Pisano, who’s been touring the major festivals the last few years. If you strike it up, you may just hang, chill, and groove in The dj booth for the night.

Saturday

If you’re up for it and an early riser, hit up Eugene Gant and his world-famous Naam meditation practice on the sand at 35th Street and Collins. Drum circle included. This ain’t your mama’s Richard Simmons yoga. This is a serene meditation surrounded by nature with the birds chirping, sounds of the ocean waves, fresh air, and sunshine. Life’s pretty good this time of morning. Naam yoga and meditation combine breathwork, mantra, and movement. No need to worry about the level of your experiences or your downward dog. This is easy for any newbie and you’ll notice a great feeling right from the first class.

Feeling good and alive after your yoga session, you must straight away head to brunch at Balans on Lincoln Road, a favorite place for people watching people. There are several of the eateries around the world and you’ll get a filling dish of fluffy pancakes, eggs, meat if you swing that way, toast if you’re not a carboholic. It’s a delicious way to fill up after a long night out. I also strongly recommend the hair of the dog therapy so you’ll want to accentuate your breakfast with a mimosa or 2, well maybe a 3rd and your off to a buzzing Saturday afternoon.

So now with your afternoon ahead, there’s plenty of options for you to consider. You may want to head back to the Edition Hotel’s amazing pool or hit the sand, grab a chair and take in the sun and accessorize by sipping on that mojito and sugar cane stick. An afternoon pool or beach power disco nap is definitely in order as Saturday night in Miami is not for the meek or the sleepy.

Saturday night is made for Story Night Club. You’re in Miami so you’ll want to live large and a VIP table will set you back a few sheckles but all worth it.  Don’t be the schmuck waiting in that long cue sucking up to the doorman. That’s why I’m here and our luxury concierge service will handle all of that so that you and your buds or honey can walk right in baller style. You’re now in like Flynn so let the games begin. Buckle up ladies and gentlemen. It’s going to be a long night.

Sunday

After a long night and getting in with the sun coming up, you’ll want to sleep in. But when you do get up, there’s one Miami must do especially in the morning after a long night is what I call Cuban crack, a cortadito which is Cuban coffee with foamed milk and lots of sugar. Its like five red bulls in a 4 oz cup so now you’ll wired and ready.

Miami Sunday mornings are all about brunch. Link up with your friends and  head to the sexy water front spot,  the Deck at Island Gardens. There you’ll have a really good breakfast in the fresh air with sexy lounge music playing and setting the vibe. As you sit back and nosh with your mates, you’ll have wide open views of the passing mega yachts and the Miami waterways with amazing views of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami. As the day ebbs into the evening and sun to dusk the vibe gets more intense and sexier as hot Miami ladies start to groove to the now up-tempo lounge beats. The Deck turns into a swanky sunset party carrying late into the evening.

The other sick option is instead of watching those cool people on those shiny yacht is to be one of those people being watch on your own yacht (at least for the day). Get a bunch of friends together and go by boat to the hottest scene Sunday Funday at Kiki On The River, which is on the Miami River. This place is like St. Tropez meet Mykonos Beach club minus the beach and add in the water and is one beautiful, sexy scene.

So there you have it, three days in Miami that will keep you grinning for month when you’re back in the office back home. It’s how we roll here and we know now to make sure you have an awesome, hassle-free and memorable weekend. Remember it’s wiser to invest money on experiences not accumulating more stuff.  To have a weekend like this and get taken care of on your next trip to Miami, get in touch with Scotty Mesz @scottymesz
