Thousands of years ago, volcanic eruptions blanketed the lands of Cappadocia with thick, black ash. This ash then formed the solid rock that has now evolved into beautiful caves, and unique geological formations. Since before Biblical times, residents tunnelled into these caves, creating hideouts, homes and havens, which today have transformed into magical hotels like the luxury AJWA Cappadocia. Sleeping within the walls of these nine cave suites, surrounded by the beauty, history and luxury of this traditional Turkish hotel, is the most unique and historical Turkish experience for any luxury traveller.

Designed by Gulab Architects, AJWA Cappadocia showcases the authentic Ottoman and Seljuk architecture renowned throughout Turkey. The authentic and traditional design conveys the spirit of the region, through reflecting the natural formations of the rocks, which inhibit the history of Cappadocia. The walnut furniture and earthy colours offer a natural feel, whilst the embellished walls, decorative sculptures and beautiful, colourful hand-crafted woollen Azerbaijan carpets displayed throughout the resort impress guests with the culture and history of the region. For example, the painted and decorated millstones decorating the grounds of the hotel, instantly welcome guests to this authentic Turkish experience before they step into the spectacular lobby with high glass ceilings brightening the atmosphere. The beautiful floral aromas combined with the birdsong and sounds of water flowing through ornamental pools immerse guests into the natural environment the resort aims to present. Guests are transported back towards an ancient world, as the heated, stoned floor and copper pots homing bonsai trees, add to the earthy, grand atmosphere of the resort.

The experiential concept restaurant, the fine-dining Zeferan Restaurant, furthers the traditional Turkish experienceAJWA Cappadocia features. Theatrical servings of a fusion of authentic Azerbaijan, Turkish and Sinasos Village cuisine are complimented by an international influence. The authentic quarry and tandoor oven, and state-of-the-art equipment, aids with the diverse range of dishes including Trout and Carp served in salt, Azerbaijan shah pilaf presentation, kebab presentation shows, and more, all created with the finest, fresh ingredients. Cappadocia is known as one of Turkey’s most treasured destinations, as it is founded on the history of the natural world, with its unique and distinctive landscape of valleys, caves and ‘fairy chimneys’. The resort is perfectly located with direct access to the Beydere Valley, where guests can explore historical architecture and Turkish wonders. The stunning architecture of Cappadocia, introduced to guests from the resort itself, amazes and wonders tourists as they meander through the alleys, markets and nearby towns.

The AJWA Cappadocia

Perhaps the highlight of any trip to Cappadocia, is the incredible experience of hot air ballooning, truly enjoying the wondrous scenes of Turkey. Hot air ballooning is one of the most popular activities of the region, as panoramic views of a multitude of colourful hot air balloons often spectacle the sky. The feeling of soaring through the sky admiring the rugged landscape is available all year round, and is just one of the ways to appreciate the natural beauty of the rock formations and valleys of Cappadocia.

The AJWA Cappadocia is scheduled to open next year in 2021.
