We’ve all been there – you’ve already called a taxi to go to the airport, and yet, you cannot get rid of a strange feeling that something is not right . . . To avoid such a situation, we do recommend that you check beforehand all the things needed for a foreign travel.
Have you found out that your passport or visa expires in a week or so? Submit your application to get a new one as soon as possible! To do that, you shall provide a lot of documents, including photos that meet specific requirements and standards.
Is there any way to make those photos as soon as possible, without waiting in a line in your local photo shop? Sure! Use your phone camera to take them at home. Install the program and open the photo you want to process by clicking on “Open” in the upper taskbar. It will be added in an instant!
In the “ID type” tab, you’ll find two dropdown lists allowing you to select the country and the type of the document you need. The program will do the rest, adjusting your photo to the requirements automatically. Don’t forget to press “Next” to open the “Crop” tab!
As a rule, the program will recognize your facial features and rotate your picture so that you won’t have to do anything. However, you still can change the angle of rotation manually. Use the “Photo rotation” spinner box in the “Crop” tab to rotate your photo by a few degrees (usually not more than 2 or 3). This way, your eyes (in the photo) will be placed horizontally at the same level.
The next tab — it opens after you’ve cropped the unnecessary parts — gives you a variety of tools to edit your photo. You can change its brightness by clicking the “Main settings” icon and shifting the sliders; it is possible to change the background color (this works especially well with pictures taken against a monochrome screen). It also might be a good idea to “replace clothes,” especially if you were dressed too informally for the occasion, as in the example below.
The same tab allows you to save your photo as a file (needed for applications which should be filed online). The big “Save Photo to File” button can hardly be overseen. In the window that opens when you click on it, choose the file format and size you need before you hit the “Save File” button.
And here we’ve the most important step. The “Print” tab finally permits you to print out what you’ve prepared! Select the number of photos you want to place on a single page, plug in your printer to your PC, and press “Print photos.” Alternatively, you can save them to a memory stick in order to fetch them to your friend who has a printing device or to the nearest print shop — they may have the necessary equipment, but lack the needed skills, which is why you’ve decided to prepare the photos for printing on your own.
When going abroad, make sure you haven’t forgotten anything essential. Start checking your documents long before the date of your departure.
Processing a photo for a passport or a visa application is much easier than it seems. It is no rocket science! Install the program or find an online tool for making passport/visa photos.
