Glamping is a great alternative to camping, giving you a few more creature comforts than you’d get with a traditional camp setup. If you’re considering booking a glamping holiday, you may be wondering how to entertain everyone throughout the trip.

That’s why we’ve put together five ways to keep busy and have fun with your friends while you’re away.

  1. Connect with nature

One great benefit of glamping is that it allows you to slow down and connect with nature.

So, take a pair of comfortable walking boots and get outdoors to explore the surrounding area. A scenic walk is a great way to embrace the nature around you and soak up picturesque landscapes.

Some of the most popular routes are found in destinations like the Lake District, Malham in North Yorkshire and the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. Pick a route that will suit the ages and abilities of the whole group.

Don’t forget to bring your camera to take snaps of the incredible natural beauty and wildlife.

  1. Play campfire games

Set up some comfortable seating outside with plenty of cushions and blankets to play some games with your friends.

You could bring your favourite games on your trip and set them up on a pop-up table, such as cards, trivia or board games.

Not enough room in the car? Play games like bingo on your phones instead. Or, you could take part in some classic party games like charades and musical chairs.

  1. Stargaze at night

If you’re going glamping in a rural area, chances are you’ll be able to see the stars more clearly than you would in a town or city.

The National Parks website says that “because of light pollution, you might only see 5 -10 stars with the naked eye in a town or city. However, away from street lights in a National Park, you can often see over 2,000 stars – and even see our galaxy, the Milky Way, stretching across the sky.”

"There are many great ways to fill your time when glamping – what will you choose to do?"

They recommend taking a blanket, snacks and a warm drink. Once you’re set up outside, allow your eyes time to adjust to the darkness which can take around 20 minutes.

  1. Organise water sports

Keen to get active? There are plenty of water sports you can do during your trip. If you’re heading to the coast, you could try surfing, wakeboarding or windsurfing. After some time in the water, enjoy relaxing on the beach with some fish and chips.

If you’ll be staying near a lake or river, you should give paddleboarding or kayaking a go. Search for local providers beforehand to ask what’s available and book your equipment hire.

  1. Enjoy crafting

Why not embrace your creativity by getting stuck into some arts and crafts?

You could plan a walk in nature to collect items like twigs, pebbles and leaves and create artwork or decorations with them. Or even try painting rocks or creating hanging mobiles using shells from the beach.

There are many great ways to fill your time when glamping – what will you choose to do?
