Considered the Walleye Capital of the Word, fishermen flock to Lake of the Woods year-round for fishing including ice fishing in the winter months. Even if you’re not a fisherman, there’s still plenty to do from hiking, boating, kayaking, and much more on the lake. Notably, part of the lake is in the state of Minnesota, so depending on which part of the lake you choose on visiting, having your passport handy would be recommended here as well.

Algonquin Park

This provincial park covers over 7,600 square km outside Whitney. At Algonquin Park, visitors can enjoy backcountry camping, backpacking, biking, boating, camping, canoeing, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, swimming, whitewater canoeing, and much more. The park also has a variety of programs that visitors of all ages can take part in including general education programs, workshops, junior ranger programs, and more. This is a great park to visit for travelers of all ages.
